Anatomic Dilator

An anatomical dilator is used in surgical procedures to gently widen narrow anatomical openings like the uterine cervix, anal canal, and urethra, facilitating the passage of medical instruments into the uterus, rectum, or bladder.

  1. General Details

This dilator is designed for use in gynecological, rectal, or urological surgical procedures to gently dilate stenotic anatomical orifices, such as the uterine cervix, anal canal, and urethra, facilitating the passage of medical instruments into cavities like the uterus, rectum, and bladder. The dilator consists of a tubular member with a closed state for insertion into a stenotic orifice and an open state forming a passageway for surgical devices. Nitinol wires form an inner metallic core, and a string, extending through the tubular member, holds the wires to prevent unintended dilation. Activating the string releases the wires, causing the tubular member to expand, providing unobstructed access for medical instruments. The external material of the tubular member is soft, absorbent, and resilient, preventing traumatic dilatation of the orifice. The plurality of wires has varying tension strength and size, creating a cylindrical shape in the dilated state, allowing the passage of medical instruments. The string, with a blunt tip and measuring lines, serves as a finder for structured orifices and can measure bodily cavities, such as the uterine cavity.
