The transformable putting green mimics outdoor terrain indoors, taking data from real courses or simulating a realistic and changing putting environment. Future plans include combining modules for bigger, life-like greens.

  1. General Details

The aim of creating a transformable putting green is to mimic the contours of any outdoor putting green, offering a lifelike experience indoors. Originally conceptualized for a broader commercial application, the project was scaled down to a 4’x8’ prototype consisting of two 4’x4’ modules. To enhance cost efficiency while still demonstrating feasibility, the initial plan for a 30” topographical range was revised to a more economical 6” range per module. This design lays the groundwork for future expansion, envisioning the incorporation of multiple modules to craft expansive and authentic indoor putting greens.

    Putting Surface Design:

    • The putting surface is the area where the user stands and putts.
    • It serves as the primary space for engaging in putting activities.
    • Designed to provide a realistic and stable experience for users.

    Sub-surface Support Structure:

    • Positioned beneath the putting surface
    • Linked to the actuators through a custom interface
    • Ensures a consistent and reliable foundation for the overall structure.

    Actuator Tops Interface:

    • These actuator tops serve as the connection point between the sub-surface and the linear actuators.
    • Facilitates the transmission of movements and adjustments from actuators to the putting surface.

    Motor-Driven ACME Threaded Lead Screw:

    • This lead screw is mechanized by a motor located beneath it.
    • Drives the linear actuators, enabling controlled adjustments to the putting surface for varied topography.
