Procedural Barrier Packaging System

Single-use medical device packaging reengineered as a standalone infection control system that extends device protection beyond storage and into the procedure.

  1. General Details

    Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) is the internationally accepted gold standard for procedural infection control.

    ANTT applies across all clinical procedures. Our focus is Standard ANTT for nonsurgical medical procedures, both inside and outside the hospital environment.

    The Problem
    Conventional single-use medical device packaging is for storage only. It must be fully removed for a device to be used.

    When a device is entirely exposed:

    1. achieving ANTT is a complex process and is dependent on hospital infrastructure, clinical training, planning and preparation, auxiliary equipment, and critical resources;
    2. in many real-world care scenarios, achieving ANTT is difficult or impossible; and
    3. the entire device is at risk of contact contamination, airborne exposure, droplet exposure, environmental debris, and handling error.

    The Solution
    Led by a triple-specialized pulmonologist, sleep medicine and acute care physician, single-use device packaging has been reengineered into a standalone, active infection control system that extends device protection beyond storage and into the procedure.

    Integrated system features allow devices to be used from within an impervious protective barrier during the procedure without hindering the user.

    Unlike conventional packaging, the barrier system operates independently of environmental conditions and user variables. This enables gold-standard ANTT infection control in real-world care scenarios where achieving ANTT with conventional packaging is difficult or impossible.

    Protected by granted US patents, this novel technology empowers anyone, in any care setting, to achieve the gold standard for infection control when using a single-use medical device.

    The Opportunity
    The technology addresses a large, meaningful, and unmet need at the intersection of infection control, medical devices, and medical packaging across multiple single-use device categories and significant end markets.

    It establishes powerful platform IP capable of opening new markets and disrupting existing ones.
